Board Chair, The Naga Group

Sagra Maceira de Rosen is the Chair of the Board of Directors of The Naga Group, an investment holding company focused on investing in premium consumer and luxury brands. NAGA’s long term objective is to invest in and build a portfolio of premium consumer, luxury and lifestyle brands, providing creative founders, designers and brands with the equity capital and the hands-on functional expertise across all business areas to drive growth, transform their business and help them reach their full potential.

She is also a senior advisor to various private equity firms, on transactions in the consumer, luxury, fashion and retail industries.

Prior to this Sagra was CEO of Amanda Wakeley, the London-based luxury lifestyle brand.  Sagra was involved with Amanda Wakeley since early 2012, when she advised both Amanda and the current majority shareholders on the acquisition of a stake in the company. She subsequently became a member of the Board of Directors and later the CEO, leading the repositioning of the company from its narrow focus on designer eveningwear to a luxury lifestyle brand. This included defining the brand business vision and strategy; building up the management team; working closely with the creative director, design and merchandising teams in broadening the collection into multiple product categories; defining the retail concept and launching a new flagship boutique in Mayfair, London; restructuring the production and supplier base; updating the brand identity and corporate image; developing a new marketing strategy; and managing new required business budgeting and financial reporting.

Since 2011, Sagra has been a member of the Advisory Board of Omni United, a fast growing car tyre designer, manufacturer and distributor based in Singapore. She is an strategic adviser to its Founder and CEO, and has worked directly with him on defining the company’s vision, corporate principles and values; advising on strategic direction and investment opportunities; and on all marketing and creative initiatives and projects undertaken by the company. At Omni, she conceived and developed the recently launched, award-winning Timberland Tires project, the first ever partnership between a global fashion lifestyle brand and a tyre company, creating a line of co-branded tyres that at the end of their lives will be recycled into the outsoles of Timberland shoes.

Sagra is also a luxury, retail and fashion contributor to Monocle24, the radio service of Monocle magazine, commenting on the luxury, fashion, consumer and retail sectors.

Prior to becoming the CEO of Amanda Wakeley, Sagra advised a number of private equity and investment firms in evaluating potential investments in the branded retail & consumer, fashion and luxury goods sectors. In addition she has advised and mentored, and continues to do so, a number of designers and entrepreneurs in the luxury goods arena on their strategic positioning and business vision.

Currently she is on the advisory boards of Pramma, a luxury leather goods brand and Beulah-London, a designer ready-to-wear lifestyle brand;

Until the end of 2010, Sagra was the Managing Director of the Luxury & Retail division of a family office investment company, Reig Capital Group (“RCG”), where for five years she led and oversaw the direct equity investments of the group in luxury, retail and media brands, leading the management teams at the group’s portfolio companies and acting as an active member of their boards of directors. She was also a member of the executive board of RCG, which oversaw other investments of the group, mainly in the real estate and luxury hotel areas. Direct investments of the luxury division included a minority investment in global media & retail brand Monocle; the acquisition and relaunch of the iconic French luxury ready-to-wear and accessories brand Azzaro; the restructuring and re-launch of Spanish luxury jeweller, Vasari; and structuring the partnership and launching the Spanish retail operations of luxury footwear brand Manolo Blahnik and American accessible luxury designer Diane von Furstenberg (DVF).

Sagra spent the bulk of her career at US investment bank JP Morgan in London, as a top ranked equity analyst, first as the Head of its Global Luxury Goods & Fashion Retail Equity Research team, and during her last 2 years at the firm as Global Coordinator of the Retail & Luxury Goods research team and Co-head of the Pan European General Retail team, overseeing and coordinating the work of over 30 analysts worldwide. Under her leadership, JP Morgan achieved its first ever top-ranking for both the Luxury Goods sector and the Global Retail sector in the prestigious Institutional Investor Survey.  Sagra also ranked among the best global individual analysts in the Luxury Goods Sector in the Extel and Institutional Investor Surveys. She was a member of a number of M&A and advisory teams in various landmark transactions in the luxury and fashion sector, including the acquisition of Gucci and YSL by Kering (formerly Pinault Printemps Redoute) , the sale of Bottega Venetta to Gucci and the IPO of Inditex, among other. Her Luxury Goods Handbook, written while at JP Morgan, was the most widely distributed research report ever in JP Morgan’s history, reprinted five times and reaching an audience of over 70,000 readers.

Her career in luxury goods equity research started at Morgan Stanley in 1996 where Sagra worked as an equity analyst within the number one ranked Luxury Goods team in London and also in the Latin-American banking team in New York. Previously she was briefly at Goldman Sachs a member of the Swiss Equities team.

A speaker in luxury goods conferences (such as those organised by the Financial Times, and by the INYT/IHT), Sagra has co-authored the book “The Towering World of Jimmy Choo: A Glamorous Story of Power, Profits and the Pursuit of the Perfect Shoe”, published by Bloomsbury in the US and the UK in 2009. Editions in Korean and Japanese have been published in 2011.

She is deeply involved with a number of charitable and non profit organizations, including as Treasurer and member of the European Board of Trustees and Directors of Vital Voices Global Partnership, the non profit organization founded by former US First Lady and Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton and former US Secretary of State, Madeline Albrigth. Vital Voices Europe invests in emerging women leaders around the world that are working to improve women and girls lives in the areas of human rights, public participation and economic empowerment.

Sagra is also a Trustee of The Uganda Children Trust Fund, an organization that supports the lives and education of 200 kids in Uganda; Sagra is in charge of chairing and organizing the Annual Dinner and Auction, a fundraising event that accounts for close to half of the operating budget of the organization.

In addition, Sagra is a supporter and close collaborator of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) in NY, the leading breast cancer research organization in the world, founded by the late Evelyn Lauder.

Sagra has an MBA from Columbia Business School in New York and an undergraduate degree in Business & Economics from the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

She grew up in Spain, but has lived in New York and London for the last 25 years. Sagra is married and has two daughters.
