Sara Abdel

Senior Program Coordinator, MENA

Sara Abdel is the Senior Program Coordinator for MENA on the Human Rights team at Vital Voices. Sara is an experienced Bi-lingual, MBA, and certified non-profit organization (CNP) advocate and Project Manager with more than 10+ years of experience in building capacities, providing gender equity project coordination with a strong cross-sectoral portfolio of projects in a multicultural environment in the for-profit, international development, and non-profit sectors. She got her start in the for-profit sector in projects and clients’ management with Microsoft, Cisco, and OnAir Switzerland as a Senior Project Manager.

Prior to her role at Vital Voices, Sara’s philanthropic women’s empowerment portfolio includes managing projects with NGOs, government agencies, and think- tanks including the Office for the United States Senator Jeanne Shaheen, Hashoo Foundation USA, The Brookings Institution, the Office of Interfaith and Community Alliances, Unitarian Universalist for Social Justice, and as an adjacent professor at George Mason University – College Of Humanities And Social Sciences. Sara also managed the development of advocacy programs and building partnerships with stakeholders on congressional policymaking issues on Capitol Hill where she offered policy analysis and recommendations to improve immigration laws and other public policy issues.

Sara holds a Bachelor’s degree in literature and gender studies in English, Arabic, and German languages, an MBA in Public Administration and Public Policy from Southern New Hampshire University, and a Fulbright scholarship Certificate in Business and Project Management in Houston, Texas, a Certificate of Improving Global Health & Humanitarian Response to Conflict and Disaster from Harvard University, a certificate of Designing Quality Control Systems from Cornell, and a Certificate of Critical Thinking and Academic Research at American University in Cairo.
