Managing Director, Basha Enterprises Ltd.
Robin is the Founder and Managing Director of Basha Enterprises Ltd., a boutique that produces hand-made artisanal products by women survivors and those at risk of human trafficking. Basha produces luxury home textiles such as kantha throws, blankets and bedspreads. Additionally, they make products including unique handcrafted jewelry, accessories, and Christmas decorations. Because of their unique business model and target population of female artisan workers that are survivors or are at risk, Basha focuses on ensuring that not only the women empoyees in their business, but also their children are taken care of. Therefore, Basha has their employees’ children on site in daycare receiving educational support, ensuring that they never face the vulnerabilities their mother’s faced. Robin also oversees a nonprofit, Friends of Basha, which provides the services which are beyond the scope of the business and which enable the women and children to thrive. Robin is an expert at diving into things head first, creating productive teams and workflows, and making ideas come to life. She studied Child Development at Point Loma Nazarene University and received her Masters of Public Health from Oregon State University.
What Robin hopes to gain from the VV GROW Fellowship:
Robin hopes to improve team delegation and focus on growing her business and putting better systems in place. Robin also hopes to gain better strategic planning and financial management skills.
What Robin can offer other fellows:
Robin can offer other fellows insight into the value of running a social enterprise, lessons and tips for employing difficult or non-traditional employees, and experience producing handmade goods.
