Director of Justice Initiatives, Human Rights
Nicole is the Director of Justice Initiatives on the Human Rights team at Vital Voices Global Partnership. In this role, Nicole provides strategic direction for the Voices Against Violence Initiative, most notably technical assistance projects and program sub-grantees related to law and access to justice. Nicole also oversees the design and implementation of the Justice Institutes on Gender-Based Violence, an innovative training program that aims to facilitate coordinated criminal and civil justice responses to preventing and addressing gender-based violence (GBV). Additionally, she manages the Global Freedom Exchange – a program that supports a growing network of anti-trafficking advocates from the United States and around the world. Nicole also advances Vital Voices’ human rights advocacy and thought leadership work as a representative on coalitions including ATEST and the GBV Coalition.
Nicole has twelve years of experience addressing women’s rights and GBV, having worked in the areas of law enforcement, direct legal services, policy advocacy, and program management, on both a domestic and international scale. Prior to re-joining Vital Voices in 2016, Nicole served as prosecutor in Maryland where her caseload included domestic violence and crimes against children. She volunteers as a Pro Bono Protective Order Attorney for survivors of violence in Maryland. Nicole obtained her B.S. from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, and her J.D. from Boston College Law School.
