Program Assistant, MENA, Human Rights
Michaela (Micki) Gallien is a Program Assistant, Middle East and North Africa (MENA), for the Human Rights team at Vital Voices, where she provides programmatic and Arabic language support to the Voices Against Violence Urgent Assistance Program.
Prior to joining Vital Voices, Micki worked for the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) in Beirut, Lebanon and completed a year-long Arabic fellowship (CASA) at the American University in Cairo. Since 2017, she’s also worked as a research assistant for the IOM’s longitudinal study “Access to Durable Solutions for IDPs in Iraq.”
Micki holds a B.S. in International Relations and Arabic from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. She is currently completing a Master of Arts in Arab Studies from Georgetown, where she is pursuing a certificate in Refugees & Humanitarian Emergencies from Georgetown’s Institute for the Study of International Migration (ISIM).
Where is the best place you’ve ever travelled to?
“While in Egypt two years ago, climbing Mt. Sinai (in the dark!) to watch the sunrise from the top was the best decision I made the entire trip. The stars at night and the view during the sunrise were breathtaking.”
