Cofounder/General Manager, Embrace Health for Trading


Maryam is the cofounder and the general manager of Embrace Health for Trading LLC, which was established in 2014 as a multinational trading (import and export) and distribution company based in Jordan. They are an exclusive agent in the Middle East working for several pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies. Having a concept that health is beautiful and a social responsibility as a starting point of business, Embrace Health for Trading works on empowering women by helping them raise their self-esteem, their health and beauty awareness. Different from the common cosmetic marketing strategy that lowering women’s self-esteem to make them buy products, Embrace Health for Trading work on giving women back their good self-image, and make them believe that they are beautiful, and it is fine to be different. In their own cosmetic retail shop, they work differently by pampering their customers and give customers enough time with their kids or husband, to sit in their garden, have a cup of coffee, read a book and try products freely, with good advice from their experts, and finally gain customers’ trust. They currently have three lines of services, which are skin care, make-up and food supplement. For skin care, they have anti age products, skin cleansing products, skin moisturizing products and sun protection products, such as creams, serums, eye contour, purifying gel, masks, scrubs, sunblock. They sell cosmetics to pharmacies in Jordan and the Gulf region, such as fluid foundation, compact powder, and mascara. They have their own cosmetic retail shop with their new concept. They operate through their whole sale, retailing and logistics sectors. They provide consulting and skincare training for pharmacists, beauty advisors and end-users. They arrange business matching events, and implement strategic marketing through all channels such as TV, Radio, newspapers and magazines, e-marketing, social media with more than 200,000 followers. They process registration and documentation for registering their products at FDA. Maryam wants her brand to be one of the well-known brands worldwide, having chain shops in ten countries and having their e-commerce website and mobile app established and booming. Maryam would like to have the opportunity to be able to help other women all around the world to have the free choice of doing the thing they love to do, starting of being an at-home mom, or a CEO of the largest company in the world. Maryam is also the Founder and CEO of Mekyas, an NGO that enhances women rights within their business environments. Mekyas works in Jordan and the Middle East and North Africa region and is aiming to expand its reach globally through preparing an index check list to support work environments becoming more women friendly and provide both men and women fair opportunities based upon qualification. She has expertise in strategic planning, marketing, social responsibility and marketing intelligence. Maryam holds a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the School of Pharmacy at the University of Jordan, as well as an MBA in Marketing from the School of Business at the University of Jordan.

What Maryam hopes to gain from the VV GROW Fellowship: – Maryam hopes to gain a global view to develop her business, improve her financial skills and increase her knowledge about businesses around the world in order to move her business to the next level. She also looks forward to networking with fellows and exploring partnership opportunities with other women from all around the world.

What Maryam can offer other fellows: Maryam can offer her knowledge of marketing and business, in particular with brand development, consumer behavior, customer care, strategic planning and risk management. She can also share networking opportunities and her experience as a health professional.
