Senior Program Manager, Leadership and Global Activation
Emily is the Senior Program Manager for Leadership and Global Activation. She currently manages the VVLead Fellowship and initiatives supporting social change leaders in the Vital Voices network.
Emily’s career in women’s and human rights spans over 12 years, including executive management, direct service, advocacy, community and international development, evaluation, crisis counseling, research, coalition building, arts, and indigenous rights activism. Emily was Executive Director of the FSJ Women’s Resource Society in British Columbia, Canada, a grassroots women’s social service and anti-violence organization. In this role, she led groundbreaking research on gender-based violence in oil and gas communities and built innovative cross-sector community development initiatives. Emily also worked in policy and campaigning at Oxfam America in Washington, D.C. She has her M.A. in Sustainable Development and her B.A. in Psychology and Women’s Studies from Skidmore College. She also holds certifications in Community Mediation and other technical areas.
