Shiphrah Ayebare is a medical doctor and the Head of Human Rights Research at Iruká Africa. She brings her passion for social justice to lead the organization’s efforts in championing the rights of marginalized communities across six African countries. Through conducting evidence-based research, she aims to influence policies promoting quality education and gender equality, empowering the girl child and shaping a fairer society.

With a background in medicine, Ayebare has witnessed disparities in healthcare that have fueled her passion to advocate for healthcare accessibility and equity, especially in underserved communities. She is set to commence her MSc. in International Health Economics and Pharmacoeconomics in September to further equip herself with the knowledge to drive transformation in healthcare systems in Africa.

“As a visionary leader, I aspire to support the girl child in Africa to pursue education and excel in various fields with the goal of creating positive change in our world and also contribute to the formation of sustainable health systems in the future.”
