Focus Areas
Saida Afef Gardabbou is planning to develop a platform for the production and co-creation of Arab fanfiction. Her vision is to provide feminist Arab writers and translators a safe space to reinterpret mainstream culture and craft their own narratives. Gardabbou is currently putting together a strategy to engage her community through workshops and work groups, harnessing the potential of feminist translation and fanfiction for social justice. She envisions the platform as a bridge connecting the Arab world with the North/West, increasing visibility, and encouraging research in the overlooked field of Arab fanfiction.
Gardabbou holds a Bachelor of English for Academic Purposes from Tunis El-Manar University and a Master of Arts in Translation Studies from HBKU. She is pursuing a PhD in Social Sciences and Humanities.
“As a visionary leader, I aspire to build a strong network of Arab fanfiction enthusiasts, transforming this initiative into an activist, academic, and aesthetic space.”
