Bonita Muhirwa started a student-led initiative, Mother-Daughter Empowerment, alongside her colleagues to combat period poverty and provide reproductive health education to underprivileged girls and women in her home country, Rwanda. Her vision is to reduce the barriers that hinder quality education and create a society where girls aren’t shamed over menstruation. Mother-Daughter Empowerment collaborates with sanitary towel manufacturers to support the cause and offer educative workshops to girls and women.
