In early 2022 we opened the first ever Global Headquarters for Women’s Leadership, a 30,000+ sq. ft. historic building just blocks from the White House on 16th Street. It will be a hub of activity, events and collaborations — bringing together women leaders and their allies to tackle the world’s greatest challenges.
Position Description:
The Vital Voices team is seeking a motivated intern who will support the Leadership and Social Impact (LSI) department which manages and develops holistic leadership programs to advance women’s leadership and expand their social impact. The LSI team provides innovative and tailored leadership and other programming to support women and girl’s leadership development using the VV investment model to meet the needs of women leaders at all stages of their leadership journey.
The Leadership and Social Impact department includes the Global Ambassadors Program, Fortune-U.S. Department of State Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership, Voices that Inspire, VV GROW Fellowship, WE Empower Global UN SDG Challenge, the Vital Voices Leadership Journey and the VV Visionaries in Partnership with the Estée Lauder. The intern will also provide support to ongoing initiatives including training curriculum development efforts and programmatic support with corporate partners. The Intern will be assigned a portfolio of projects based on their skills and interests, working alongside and learning from cross-functional teams with leaders and peers with varying backgrounds, education, and experiences. This position reports to Abby Hotchkiss, Program Assistant.
We are accepting interns on either a full-time or part time basis. The internship requires a commitment of 40 hours per week for full-time interns or 20 hours a week for part-time interns. The position is unpaid, but students will receive a stipend of $1000 per month for full time interns or $500 per month for part time interns and/or may receive academic credit for their experience in cooperation with their university. We are currently accepting applications for the Summer term. Summer internships will run from May 29 through August 18 (flexible depending on school/vacation schedule). Interns may work in person or remotely.

Responsibilities:
- Assist with logistics and administration for international and domestic programs
- Editing and preparing program content and materials
- Draft articles, newsletters, reports, and blog posts
- Support program social media activities
- Support program recruitment and selection
- Support ongoing new business development and partnership development priorities
- Contribute to data entry, database management, and monitoring and evaluation
- Research funding opportunities and resources for women-owned businesses and organizations
- Reviewing grant application and reporting materials as necessary
- Administrative tasks as necessary
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Interest in and knowledge of global women’s issues, international development, and/or women’s leadership
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program or recent university graduate
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Excellent communications and digital media skills
- Experience coordinating logistics for programs and events
- Experience with research and data management for qualitative and quantitative projects
- Experience developing social media campaigns and using content and contact management platforms a plus
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Computer literacy (Excel, online portal management, and document formatting skills preferred)
- Self-starter with ability to work independently and meticulous attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills and administrative capabilities
- Spanish and/or Portuguese proficiency a plus
- Remote working ability
