Vital Voices is seeking its first Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to join the Vital Voices executive team, reporting to the CEO. This person will lead the agile technology strategy, roadmap, and execution to fuel Vital Voices and its Network. This creative technologist will drive:
The CTO will work in deep collaboration with Vital Voices Executive Management to integrate strategic technologies to drive the mission of Vital Voices, with a focus on building the technology assets, data tools, developer network and integrated platform the Vital Voices team can use to support network partners and collaborators. The CTO will work in partnership with other divisions within Vital Voices to select and deliver best technology solutions to build and scale capabilities: likely/typically in partnership with external providers through APIs and other integrations; within a limited budget; and looking to leverage the Vital Voices network where possible. Technical experience with building at scale, passion for being creative with technology, skill in building and leading diverse teams, and a thorough understanding of the marketplace for potential partnerships is essential.
The CTO’s performance will be measured on their ability to leverage technology to scale the Vital Voices mission, and to support the Vital Voices network to scale and deliver their individual missions. Collaboration within both Vital Voices and the network will be essential to deliver this. Responsibilities include:

This includes demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and deep experience in applying the latest technology and IT security tools, techniques and strategies, and data and analytics approaches; leading effective technical teams; and leading teams who engage developer networks and open innovation ecosystems. Applicants must also exhibit an entrepreneurial start-up mindset with experience in hiring and building effective teams.
