Power To Empower: Dr. Rola Hallam & Kah Walla

Power to Empower: A Special Episode on Leadership Re-imagined ft. Dr. Rola Hallam & Kah Walla

July 2021 –  Last year, we released the Vital Voices book, Vital Voices: 100 Women Using their Power to Empower. This unprecedented book celebrates 100 global women leaders whose voices illustrate the transformative power of women’s leadership across cultures, sectors, and generations. The book features portraits accompanied by excerpts from first-person narratives from some of the most influential and insightful women in the world. In celebration of the book’s release, our Power to Empower Podcast series was born. Throughout the series, hosted by Vital Voices CEO, Alyse Nelson, we speak with women leaders worldwide on their power and how they use it to empower others. In this special episode, Kah Walla and Dr. Rola Hallam (who are both featured in the book) joined the podcast to discuss leadership and a path re-imagined.

Dr. Rola Hallam is a Vital Voices Global Leadership Honoree and British-Syrian advocate and doctor who, through her organization, CanDo, empowers humanitarians in war-affected communities to use their skills to ensure that all individuals have access to healthcare. Kah Walla is a Vital Voices Board of Directors Member and a Cameroonian businesswoman and politician. She was the founder and CEO of the consulting firm STRATEGIES! and was the first woman to run for the office of the President for the Republic of Cameroon.  Both women are resilient, determined, and empathetic leaders who have shared their expertise and wisdom with the Vital Voices network.

This exciting live conversation covers topics from the unique elements of women’s leadership that stem from its guiding principles of inclusivity and empathy, the current state of violence against women in Cameroon and the women working to combat GBV in the area, and the intersection between women’s and children’s health and women’s leadership. You can learn more about these phenomenal women by listening to the episode or donating to Vital Voices and getting the Vital Voices: 100 Women Using their Power to Empower book as a THANK YOU!
