Vital Voices Europe and Bank of America Merrill Lynch Host 2018 London Mentoring Walk
Walk Engages Leaders and Young Professionals Ahead of International Women’s Day

LONDON – On 10 March 2018, Vital Voices Europe and Bank of America Merrill Lynch will hold the 2018 Vital Voices Global Mentoring Walk in central London in celebration of International Women’s Day.

The Global Mentoring Walks were conceived 10 years ago by the founder and former CEO of Oxygen Media, and Board Director of Vital Voices, Geraldine Laybourne. She started mentoring walks to empower young professional women in the United States by asking them to join her regular morning walks. Those walks turned into a movement, and in 2018, thousands of women and girls will join 150 walks in 60 countries around the world. This will be the second year that the Walk is held in London with Bank of America Merrill Lynch as the primary sponsor. Additional sponsors include Akin Gump and GLG (Gerson Lehrman Group).

“We are thrilled to be hosting this amazing initiative in London again. This is an opportunity for leaders to ‘pay it forward’ and for young professionals to learn from their experiences, both personally and professionally. It is also a chance to connect with incredible women across industries and establish enriching personal and professional networks,” said Sagra Maceira de Rosen, Trustee of Vital Voices Europe and Chair of the Mentoring Walk Committee. “We are truly thankful to all our partners and sponsors for their support and generosity.”

The Mentoring Walk will begin with a breakfast co-hosted by Terra Firma Capital Partners at Cadogan Hall near Sloane Square before participants are paired off and begin their roughly two-hour walk through central London. During this time, the mentors and mentees, who will be matched by industry, relevant experience or interests, will have the opportunity to learn more about each other and share their experiences and advice. The walk will end with a luncheon and networking event hosted by Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Roughly 200 participants are expected at this year’s event.

“We are excited to be part of the 2018 Mentoring Walk,” highlighted Jennifer Taylor, EMEA Compliance and Operational Risk executive at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and member of

Vital Voices’ EMEA Board of Directors. “At Bank of America Merrill Lynch, we firmly believe in the power of women’s leadership and mentoring. This has fueled the Global Ambassadors Program , our long-standing partnership with Vital Voices that advances female entrepreneurs around the world. This walk provides a great opportunity for our employees to join like-minded individuals and help build bridges and leadership skills with women in our local communities.”
