FROM SILENCE TO SOLIDARITY

Today, Vital Voices teamed up with Promundo and New America, hosting the “Men and the #MeToo Movement” panel. Check out our Facebook Live stream for a dialogue on what we know about men who harass and assault, how we can work together to change the pattern, and ways to take meaningful action now and for future generations.

“STOP TALKING AND LISTEN”

2015 Global Leadership Awards Honoree and VVLead Ambassador Samar Minallah Khan is featured this week by Harvard Business Review. Samar is an anthropologist and filmmaker from Pakistan. Catch up with Samar and other women in our global network of leaders and change-makers.

GIRLS WITH DREAMS…

…become women with vision. Applications are now open for the HERlead Fellowship, a groundbreaking partnership between ANN INC. and Vital Voices to empower young women from across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico to effect global progress, invest in their communities, and begin their journeys as the next generation of leaders. Check out this new video promo, and apply today!

JOIN THE GLOBAL MOVEMENT

A historic 150 Global Mentoring Walks will take place in over 60 countries around the world next month, including several right here in the United States. The Mentoring Walk activates the power of the Vital Voices Global Leadership Network, pairing established and emerging women leaders to walk together in their communities. Learn more and find a walk near you!

A “NOBEL” WARRIOR

Congratulations to Vital Voices partner Jaha Mapenzi Dukureh, founder of Safe Hands for Girls. Jaha has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for her work to end the harmful practice known as Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C). The UN estimates that FGM/C affects 200 million women and girls across the globe.

FORGET HER NOT

“Women laid the groundwork for the generation of black activists who came of age during the civil rights-black power era.” In honor of Black History Month, check out this Newsweek article highlighting the many women, often forgotten, who helped lead the charge for a more equal world.
