Global Ambassadors Program: Mexico Day 3

Global Ambassadors and their mentees continued mentoring one-on-one in the morning followed by a site visit to ProEmpleo, a local employment and microenterprise training organization run by mentee Yemy Zonana. The bustling office near Polanco is the hub center of Mexico City and there are 12 centers nationally and two in Cuba. The idea behind ProEmpleo is to get people back to work or along a path to successful small business ownership through a holistic approach combining life coaching and technical skills training.

After meeting with ProEmpleo clients and learning about their various enterprises first hand, it was back to training in the afternoon. Global Ambassadors Gema Moreno and Julie Harris led a session on fundamentals of business financial management and trainer Kathleen Holland took the group through a whirlwind brand workshop highlighting the important components of brand promise, brand identity and brand experience.

The evening concluded with a private tour of the Frida Kahlo museum in the south of the city and a dinner in the courtyard of La Casa Azul with remarks by Vital Voices’ ZoĢĒ Dean-Smith and Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Peter Winkelman. A passionate, rousing speech by Sonia Dula, vice chair of Latin America for the Bank, urged the gathered mentees to “Dare to think big!” as they navigated the often rocky world of entrepreneurship.
