Initiative to Combat Human Trafficking
We join nine organizations as members of the Alliance to End Slavery and Trafficking (ATEST), a coalition convened by Humanity United to strengthen and foster coordination among the U.S.-based movement to end modern-day slavery. ATEST’s work to date has focused largely on the appropriations process to renew the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA). This legislation funds the provision of victims’ services, as well as other government and civil society-led efforts to address trafficking in the United States. When the TVPRA was passed by Congress in 2008, more than 90 percent of ATEST’s proposed amendments were included.
