Liron Peleg-Hadomi is a community organizer in Israel. She began coexistence work when she was a student, with the organization Ossim Shalom (Social Workers for Peace). Over the last 10 years, she has worked with NGOs committed to strengthening relations between Jews and Arabs in Israel through community work, leadership development and networks.
Liron was co-director of the Galilead Program, developing Jewish-Arab leadership in the Galilee. She’s now a teacher and supervisor of social work students doing community work at Tel Hai College. She is also the coordinator of Lead Haifa, where she engages leaders from the private sector, civil society and the Haifa municipality on issues of personal development, joint learning and various fields of social change.
In 2007, along with a delegation of Jewish and Arab women from Israel and participants from South Africa, Liron was invited to Northern Ireland to take part in the Vital Voices Peace and Prosperity program. While there, she met Noha Khatieb, an Arab educator, with whom she became fast friends. Together, they began to navigate the roadmap others have used in the elusive search for peace.
Engaged in similar work, Liron and Noha had never met before the Peace and Prosperity program, despite their proximity to one another. Upon returning home to Israel, both women were inspired to carry on the work begun in Northern Ireland.
In 2010, Liron and Noha became the local coordinators for a new extension of the Vital Voices Peace and Prosperity program for young women within Israel. The group meets monthly to foster the next generation of peace builders in Israel.
