Communications & Social Media
Vital Voices is seeking a talented Online Communications Intern for Spring/Summer 2012 (May — August). Internships are based in Washington, D.C., and require a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week. Start and end dates are flexible.
Interns will work closely with the Media Relations and Online Communications departments, supporting broad communications needs. Responsibilities will include: media tracking and list-building; contributing to blog, e-newsletter and other online communications projects; research and drafting new content, as necessary; organizing and archiving media content; other tasks as required. Experience with broadcast/live-streaming is a plus.
Interns are encouraged to attend workshops, lectures and other staff development events in the D.C. area. Vital Voices is unable to offer financial support for interns; however, interns may receive academic credit for their internship with the cooperation from their university.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program or recent university graduate
- Demonstrated interest in global women’s development and advocacy
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Strong computer literacy and previous experience with new media (social networking, blogging, etc.)
- Familiarity with new media concepts, e.g. two-way engagement, analytics/measurement, etc.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated and creative
- Able to work independently and as a team member
